ARCHIVED - Calpe Virgin de las Nieves Fiestas July 31 to August 11
Celebrations in the Marina Alta comarca, Alicante province, begin this weekend with the traditional election of Festival Queens.
Calpe is preparing for 11 days of music, performances and festivities in celebration of its patron saint Virgen de las Nieves, which get off to a colourful start with the election of Festival Queens this weekend.
The traditional ceremony and celebrations were cancelled last year, due to the pandemic, so the child and adult queens for both 2020 and 2021 will be elected by the town's Festival Commission in Plaza Mayor on Friday and Saturday, July 30 and 31.
This will be followed by a week of music, religious activities and fireworks. The line up is as follows:
Monday, August 2, 8pm - Lion King Musical in Plaza Mayor.
Tuesday, August 3, 10.30pm - The Talent Musical in Plaza Mayor.
Wednesday, August 4, 7.30pm - Offering of flowers to the patron saint in Plaza de la Villa, Virgen de las Nieves Parish Church.
Wednesday, August 4, 9pm - Musical Gisela, the voice of Disney, in Plaza Mayor.
Wednesday, August 4, 11pm - Tribute to Alejandro Sanz by Fran Valenzuela in Plaza Mayor.
