ARCHIVED - Showing of Carthago Nova, El esplendor de una era December 2nd 8pm
Cartagena, this digital documentary will reveal the splendour of Cartagenas past
2010-11-29
Visiting the ruins of Cartagena, buried beneath the streets of the city, its hard to appreciate the vast scale and complexity of the roman city which lies beneath our feet.
The magnificent Roman Theatre revealed within the Museo Teatro Romano is just a very small part of what would have been a large complex, with gardens and public areas stretching out behind the theatre itself and its difficult to envisage just how magnificent it really would have been.
But this is where modern technology can do the work for us.
Carthago Nova, El esplendor de una era the splendour of an era, is a documental reconstruction of the city as it would have been 2000 years ago, complete with thousands of inhabitants, showing you in detail what the life of a citizen would have been like in Cartagena all those years ago.
Its a fascinating glimpse into the past, and is well worth seeing even though the commentary is in Spanish, just to give you a taste of Cartagenas past glory and imagine what lies beneath your feet as you do a bit of shopping or walk from place to place.
