ARCHIVED - Cumulative incidence rate in Valencia slowly inching upwards: Alicante Covid update April 27
144 new cases in the Comunidad Valenciana and 49 in the province of Alicante
The official coronavirus update posted by the regional government on April 27 reports 144 new cases in the region of Valencia and 49 in Alicante, showing a slight increase since Monday’s figures (April 26), but still similar to the figures reported over the past month.
There were 2 coronavirus related deaths in the province of Alicante reported on Tuesday and 7 in total in the region, where the average number of daily deaths in the past 7 days is 6.5.
Hospital occupancy continues to drop steadily and the number of patients hospitalised with coronavirus in the province is 60, of whom 18 are in intensive care. In contrast, at the peak of the third wave in January hospitals were pushed to their limit with over 1,700 Covid patients in the province of Alicante alone.
The vaccination campaign continues to gain momentum; more people have now received both doses (394,281) than have had coronavirus (389,850) in the region of Valencia. Furthermore, the total number of Covid injections, including first and second doses, that have been administered in the region is 1,519,428.
In the Comunidad Valenciana, the cumulative incidence rate per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days has now increased to 42.69, whereas the figure at the beginning of April was only 28.81. However, the rate in Valencia is still the lowest in the country.
Meanwhile, the national cumulative incidence rate is now 232.86, according to the latest official update and the incidence rate is in the extreme risk zone (over 250) in several regions in Spain, such as the Basque Country (529.43), Madrid (395.83) and Navarra (363.28).
