DANA brings torrential rain this weekend: Spain weather forecast December 11-14
Despite widespread rain and cloudy skies, the temperatures should remain mild in most of Spain

Average temperatures forecast on Saturday December 13
If the forecasts are to be believed, then the winter weather is sadly here to stay. Over he next few days, daytime temperatures will continue to drop right across Spain and a front approaching from the Atlantic on Thursday will result in widespread, persistent rain. Just a day later, a DANA is due to form off the Gulf of Cádiz, leading to showers and storms in the south.
Thursday December 11

As the weather front approaches Spain this Thursday, the skies will begin to cloud over and fog will form across large inland areas of the country in the morning. It will be so thick in places that the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has issued a yellow alert in Huesca, Zaragoza, Lleida, Tarragona, Navarra and La Rioja due to poor visibility.
Later in the day, rain is possible in much of the northwest and far west of Spain. Meanwhile, temperatures will be slightly lower in the Mediterranean regions and will remain similar in the rest of the country.
Friday December 12

The weather front will begin crossing Spain on Friday, bringing heavy rain to the western half of the country. Snow is expected in the Montes de Toledo and the Sistema Central mountain range.
As the front moves forward, temperatures will drop, and a small DANA will form in the Gulf of Cádiz.
The province of Huelva will be under a yellow alert for rain on Friday, as up to 15 litres of water per square metre could accumulate in just one hour. A Coruña, Pontevedra, Lugo, Asturias, Cantabria, Gipuzkoa and Vizcaya will also be under alert for dangerous sea conditions.
Saturday December 13

Saturday will be very unsettled, with predominantly cloudy or overcast skies alongside sometimes heavy rain in Andalucia, Ceuta, Melilla, the eastern coast, areas of the southern plateau and the Central System mountain range. The heaviest downpours accompanied by occasional thunderstorms are expected around the Strait of Gibraltar.
Maximum temperatures will rise across most of the country, remaining relatively unchanged in the eastern third and the Balearic Islands, and falling in the Canary Islands.
Sunday December 14

The south and east of Spain can expect another dull and dreary day on Sunday, with the worst of the weather again predicted to hit the Strait, although widespread rain is forecast in southern Andalucia.
Daytime temperatures will remain fairy stable and mild in most parts.
