Discover Murcia's greenways: cycle and hike from coast to mountains
Explore the region’s scenic wonders with cycling and walking trails for every season

Seaside and Industrial Heritage: Hornillo de Águilas Pier Greenway
If you love coastal scenery and a splash of history, the Hornillo de Águilas Pier Greenway is a treat. This route winds through old tunnels and along mineral deposits to reach a remarkable 19th-century pier, giving you a taste of Murcia’s industrial heritage right by the sea. Here, walkways overlook the bay and invite you to linger over sweeping Mediterranean views.
From Vineyards to Flower Fields: Chicharra Green Route Yecla & Cieza Flowering Green Route
Up in the north, the Chicharra Green Route starts from Yecla’s old railway station, weaving through rural roads, small bridges and rest areas. You’ll see vineyards, almond groves and classic olive trees - the bounty of Murcia’s countryside.

Through Rural Murcia: Green Route of the Campo de Cartagena & Mazarrón Green Route
In the heart of the region, the Campo de Cartagena Green Route leads from Fuente Álamo through citrus orchards, almond groves and livestock farms. Charming rural villages like Campillo de Arriba and La Pinilla offer a friendly welcome and a glimpse of Murcia’s agricultural life.
From here, the route splits with one way heading towards Totana, tracing a rugged landscape skirting the Saladares del Guadalentín natural area before ending at the base of Sierra Espuña. The other heads towards Mazarrón, following a gentle route past orchards, wooded patches and well-placed rest stops where you can pause and enjoy the scenery.
Spectacular Long-Distance Adventures: The Northwest Greenway & Almendricos Greenway
For longer days out, the Northwest Greenway is a classic. Built on the former Murcia-to-Caravaca railway line, it passes orchards, pine forests and the wild terrain of the Mula River. Many original station buildings are now cosy rest stops or hostels, and the towns sprinkled along the line have a rich cultural heritage.

Connections and Combinations
Several trails connect, letting you string together a personalised adventure. For example, explore from Totana to Caravaca, or link Yecla with Jumilla and Cieza. These routes make it easy to explore Murcia’s ever-changing patchwork of landscapes, traditions and natural wonders, all at your own pace.
Whether you fancy a gentle stroll, a long-distance ride or a scenic picnic among blossoms and mountains, Murcia’s greenways have something to tempt everyone.
