ARCHIVED - Free guided tourism routes in Orihuela throughout May
The guided routes provide information about historic people and places in the area, and reservations can now be made online
More than 450 people have enjoyed the different guided tours offered by Orihuela’s tourist department during the months of March and April and the department has recently released the itinerary for May.
Most of the previous routes are still in place as well as several new historically significant routes, such as the Miguel Hernández: Vida y Obra route, with details about the famous poet, the Modernista route, the Nordic Walking through the Norias Gemelas (twin water wheels) and the Legado Andalusí route, which explains the link between the Palmeral de Orihuela and the north of Africa.
The free guided tours are scheduled to take place on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May 1 until May 29. The routes are programmed in the mornings, between 9.30 am and 12 pm, and in the afternoons, at 7 pm and 7.15 pm.
The maximum number of people allowed to participate in each tour is 20, in accordance with the current public health restrictions.
Residents in Orihuela, or anyone visiting the area, can sign up for a guided tour on the department of Tourism’s website: orihuelaturistica.es, where there is a “Reservas” button for those interested in making a reservation.
In addition, the department have also set up a WhatsApp number (673 836 385) to which a mesage can be sent to make a reservation or to request further information or assistance.
Dilaogue on the tours is in Spanish, although there is often display board or printed material available in English.
Full information about visiting Orihuela can be obtained by visiting the Tourist Information Office in the centre of Orihuela: Click for map
