All of Spain is still suffering under the influence of an Arctic air mass, which has pulled both day and night-time temperatures drastically downwards across the country. And while the next couple of days will still be decidedly chilly in Alicante province, the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) expects the mercury to shoot back up into the 20s by Sunday.

 

Thursday should be mostly bright and sunny by the afternoon, although it will be quite overcast further north in the likes of Benidorm. Daytime temperatures will start to drop, only breaking the 20ºC mark in Alicante city.

 

Mostly sunny or partly cloudy skies are forecast on Friday but temperatures will take a real nosedive, falling to just 16ºC at the height of the day in most parts.

 

A yellow alert for rough seas has been issued in the northern half of the province.

 

Saturday will be beautifully bright with a smattering of clouds, but the daytime temperatures won’t budge, and Saturday night promises to be much colder than previous evenings.

 

Sunday will begin partly cloudy but this cloud cover will deepen as the hours go by. Even so, Aemet expects daytime temperatures to shoot up again into the low 20s in most places.

• Thursday November 20: Min 4ºC; Max 20ºC
• Friday November 21: Min 2ºC; Max 17ºC
• Saturday November 22: Min 1ºC; Max 17ºC
• Sunday November 23: Min 3ºC; Max 21ºC
