ARCHIVED - Lorca allocates 10m euros to municipal improvements
The additional funding will go towards the continued improvements to infrastructure and services throughout Lorca
The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has revealed this week that an additional budget of more than 10 million euros has been approved for a wide variety of improvement works throughout the Murcia municipality.
According to the mayor, “with this budget modification we are going to continue financing, with 825,916.20 euros, the works and necessary repairs in the infrastructures affected by the rains last spring; the necessary remodelling of the Lorca Bus Station will be carried out; the reform and extension of the social premises with 70,000 euros to offer the best meeting spaces for our residents and locals”.
Further improvements are planned for San Cristobel and 140,000 euro has been allocated for development works on the UA23 and surrounding areas; 180,000 euros has been set aside for urban renewal on Calle Portijico while another 48,000 will be used in Los Ángeles and Avenida Fuerzas Armadas.
From the Next Generation EU Recovery Fund, 350,000 euros will be provided for the works of Phase II of the Santa Quiteria Fairgrounds and a further 120,000 euros has been earmarked for the Los Peñones Industrial Estate.
The mayor highlighted that "in our districts, actions will be carried out such as the regeneration works in the Doña Inés pond worth 70,000 euros; the project and phase I of the remodelling of the Zarcilla de Ramos - La Paca Highway for which 100,000 euros will be invested along with the improvement and expansion of public lighting".
Investments in culture, leisure and sports will also be greatly increased.
Mr José Mateos concluded that “the approval of this budget amendment is great news for all Lorca men and women as it will continue to allow us to invest in Lorca, attend to the requests of our residents and continue to ensure that all citizens, our neighbourhoods and our districts, enjoy the best infrastructures and services throughout our municipal area.”
