ARCHIVED - Network that shipped designer drugs to the UK brought down in Alicante
As part of an international police prove, two Czech men and a woman have been arrested in Alicante and El Campello
A criminal network that allegedly produced and shipped designer drugs, such as a synthetic substance known as 'zombie', to the UK, USA and across Spain, has been brought down in Alicante.
Working in collaboration with the HSI (Homeland Security Investigations) of Buffalo (USA), the Guardia Civil raided three properties in Alicante and El Campello, one of which turned out to be a drug laboratory where police seized 45 kilos of methamphetamines with a chemical composition compatible with Alpha-PHP, a modification of the 'zombie drug'.
Two men and a woman, all of Czech nationality have been arrested.
According to police sources, the criminal organisation set up a website with a domain located in Germany that registered "thousands of orders", which after being paid for in cryptocurrencies were prepared and sent by post.
Detectives believe the gang had been shipping narcotic substances for at least five years using the same method, even during the pandemic.
Investigations revealed that those arrested were offering various chemical substances through the website, including Alpha-PHP, 4-CMC, 4-CEC, 3-FPM and ETHYL-HEXEDRONE, which are considered designer drugs in many countries, including Spain and the United States, and "are dangerous".
Alpha-PHP is a modification of Alpha-PVP, better known as flakka or zombie drug, a compound similar to LSD that affects a person's psychomotricity; Alpha-PHP, 4-CMC, 3-CEC and ETHYL-HEXEDRONE are stimulants of the synthetic cathinone class, whilst 3-FPM belongs to the amphetamine family.
