ARCHIVED - Pilar de Horadada fiestas: October 2 to 16
An extensive programme of activities has been put together to mark the annual patron saint festivities in the Vega Baja municipality, Alicante province
Pilar de Horadada Council has organised two weeks of festivities to celebrate the annual Virgen del Pilar fiestas.
Free transport will be available, with a ‘tourist train’ to and from the Recinto Feria (fairground) in Avenida Felipe VI, where most of the events will take place.
The line-up is as follows:
- Saturday October 2, 9.30pm - Traditional gala to elect and crown the 2021 queens followed by a ‘Tribute to Luis Miguel’ at the Recinto Feria (fairground) in Avenida Felipe VI.
- Friday October 8, 10pm - Chupinazo (rocket) launch to mark the official opening of celebrations accompanied by a lively African-influenced Brazilian percussive style batucada ensemble.
- Friday October 8, 10.30pm - Performance by the ‘Tributo al Canto del Loco’ band at Recinto Feria.
- Saturday October 9, 11am to 2pm and 5pm - Children's entertainment at Recinto Feria.
- Saturday October 9, 11am to 6pm - Paella contest at the Recinto Feria.
- Saturday October 9, 5pm - Gran Prix celebration in which local festive clubs will take part at the Municipal Sports Centre.
- Saturday October 9, 10pm - Tribute to Queen at Recinto Feria.
- Sunday October 10, 11am to 2pm - Children’s entertainment at Recinto Feria.
- Sunday October 10, 5pm - Saxophone quartet ‘Lux Aeterna’ outdoor concert in the Plaza de la Iglesia. Tickets are available at www.entradasatualcance.com
- Monday October 11, 5.30pm - Council, club and association representatives will head from Calle Triana to the Plaza de la Iglesia for the Patron Saint Virgen del Pila Flower Offering ceremony.
- Monday October 11, 11pm - ‘El comandante Lara’ comedy night at the Recinto Feria. Tickets are available at www.entradasatualcance.com.
- Tuesday October 12, 11am - The day of the feast of the Patron Saint Virgen del Pilar will begin with a parade by the Union Musical Horadada to pick up the queens and ladies of honor and accompany them to the Church, where at midday, the Horadada Choir will perform. This will be followed by a fireworks display.
- Tuesday October 12, 10pm - ‘The Talent’ musical at Recinto Feria.
- Wednesday October 13, 11am to 1pm and 4pm to 7pm - Children’s entertainment.
- Wednesday October 13, 7pm - ‘Beauty and the Beast’ family musical at Recinto Feria.
- Saturday October 16, 9pm - ‘The Happy’s’ musical to mark the Day of the Elderly.
*The free tourist train will make stops at: Barrio San Isidro, Calle Mayor junction with Avenida de la Libertad, Plaza de la Iglesia, the Obispo Bascuñana neighbourhood, and Andrés Murcia Viudas park. Full details of the timetable can be found at the stops themselves.
