Spain weather forecast June 4 – 7: Cooler days ahead before the heat returns
After a record-breaking heatwave, Spain gets a welcome breather this weekend, but don't put the sun cream away just yet

Average temperatures across Spain on Saturday June 6
It's been quite a fortnight. Spain has just come through one of the most remarkable early summer heatwaves on record, with 13 consecutive days of heat warnings from Spain's national weather agency AEMET and temperatures not seen in some provinces since 1920.
But that's all changing now and the next few days bring something much more comfortable across most of the country.
Thursday June 4

An Atlantic weather front pushes in from the west, bringing cooler air and some unsettled conditions. The north coast and Cantabrian region will feel it most, with temperatures dropping to 20°C or below and rain arriving along the coast in the morning.
Inland, storms are likely to develop in the Pyrenees and the Iberian mountain range by the afternoon, with Catalonia seeing the heaviest rain of the day.
Friday June 5

The stormy conditions linger into the early hours, with some locally heavy downpours still possible in Catalonia before the weather gradually shifts eastward towards the Balearic Islands and other parts of eastern Spain. By the afternoon things should calm down considerably, leaving just a few showers in the north and around the Mediterranean.
Temperatures across Castila y León, Aragon, Catalonia, the Valencian Community and the Balearics will be pleasant, ranging between 22°C and 25°C, while Madrid, Extremadura and Andalucia sit between 25°C and 30°C. Only Seville and Córdoba are likely to push past 32°C.
Saturday June 6

High cloud will drift across much of Spain, with thicker cloud building over mountainous areas and the chance of the odd shower or storm in the mountains of eastern Spain. Away from the hills it should be a decent day, and temperatures will be on the rise again almost everywhere.
Sunday June 7

The far north will stay cloudy with some light rain but across most of Spain it's a settled picture. A few isolated showers are possible in the eastern mountains, but for the majority of the country it'll be largely dry with high cloud coming and going.
Temperatures continue climbing, particularly across central Spain, as the heat gradually reasserts itself.
