Spain weekend weather forecast March 5-8: DANA follows Storm Regina
The March showers will continue in the coming days, while a DANA threatens the Mediterranean coast of Spain

DANA gradually forming in eastern Spain
Although most meteorologists agree that the weather should start settling down at some stage this month, we’re definitely not there yet. The showers that marked the beginning of March arrived with force on Wednesday and look set to stick around for a few more days.
Large parts of Spain saw wet and unsettled conditions yesterday (March 4) as Storm Regina pushed across the country, bringing rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms in several areas. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), the storm will continue to influence the weather through the rest of the week, particularly across the south and east of the country.
Thursday March 5

Showers are likely on Thursday across much of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, although the far southeast may escape the worst of the rain. In regions such as the Valencian Community and Catalonia, the rain could be heavier and lead to flooding.
Storms accompanied by hail and strong gusts of wind are also possible, and heavy showers may develop over the Balearic Islands later in the day.
Meanwhile, a weather front arriving from the Atlantic could bring persistent rain to northern areas, particularly in Galicia and Asturias.
Friday March 6

Meteorologists are predicting a sharp drop in daytime temperatures across much of the country On Friday, although the Mediterranean coast should see little change. Night-time temperatures are expected to remain fairly steady.
Rain is expected across almost the entire country and the Balearic Islands, with the possible exception of the far southeast. The wettest conditions are likely along the Cantabrian coast, in Catalonia, the Valencian Community and around the Strait area, where rain may be both heavy and persistent.
Snow levels will also fall, with snowfall expected from around 1,300 to 1,500 metres.
Saturday March 7

As we head into the weekend and Storm Regina begins to move away, forecasters are keeping an eye on another developing weather system that could arrive over the weekend.
Current forecasts suggest a DANA could form near the Mediterranean, bringing renewed instability to large parts of Spain, particularly on Saturday. At this stage there is still uncertainty about its exact path, but it could trigger heavy showers in Mediterranean regions and parts of southern Andalucia.
Some rain is also possible in other parts of eastern Spain and across the Balearic Islands, although meteorologists say it’s still too early to be certain how widespread it will be.
Snow levels on Saturday could sit between 1,300 and 1,600 metres, and temperatures may rise slightly compared with Friday.
Sunday March 8

By Sunday, showers could still affect much of mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands, although they are expected to be lighter and more scattered than the day before.
The most unsettled conditions are likely to linger across the northern third of the country, where rain could continue into the start of next week.
