ARCHIVED - Summer markets resume in Cartagena
Traditional summer markets have returned to several areas in Cartagena including Los Belones and Islas Menores.
Great news for summer shoppers as the municipality of Cartagena welcomes back the traditional markets that are usually a focal point of the summer season for both local residents and tourists alike.
The opportunity for tourists and residents to buy fresh products and bargain clothes has made the markets a very popular event over the years.
Situated at a variety of different locations throughout the municipality, the markets have a lot to offer. From fruit to flowers, to everything in between, these vibrant markets will remain open until September 15.
The markets will be located on:
Thursday - La Azohía and Los Urrutias
Friday - Islas Menores and Isla Plana
Sunday - Los Nietos
In addition to those mentioned, the weekly markets continue to remain open in Barrio Peral (Monday); Los Belones (Tuesday); Ribera de San Javier (Wednesday); La Aljorra, Los Dolores and La Palma (Thursday); El Algar, Llano del Beal, Pozo Estrecho and Urbanización Mediterráneo (Friday) and Barriada San Cristóbal and Cabo de Palos (Sunday)

As with many events, Covid precautions will be in place and the Local Police of Cartagena will be doing their part to ensure that all security and safety measures are being adhered to in order to prevent coronavirus infections.
It is worth noting that although masks may not be required in outdoor spaces throughout Spain anymore, many local town halls are recommending that they are worn at the markets and some are enforcing this.
