These are the cheapest regions in Spain to rent a holiday home this summer
The price of holiday lets in Spain has increased by 13% this year
Holiday season is upon us, despite what the wet weather of late might suggest, and most people are turning their minds towards a well-earned summer break. Whether you’re travelling to Spain from abroad or are an expat opting for a staycation, price is always going to be a major factor, since it’s no secret that inflation has also hit the rental market.
To help tourists get the most bang for their buck this summer, the Holidu portal has analysed every autonomous community in Spain to find the cheapest – and most expensive – holiday lets.
Cheapest (and priciest) vacation rentals
Apartments are by the far the most in-demand type of tourist accommodation, ranging from luxurious penthouses with roof-top pools to cosy city-centre pads. But according to the data, these properties now average around 172 euros per night in Spain, which is 13% more expensive than last summer.
Given its huge popularity as a holiday destination, particularly with British visitors, it might be surprising to know that vacation rentals in the Canary Islands are by far the cheapest in all of Spain. A short-term let on the archipelago will set you back just 104 euros a night.
The autonomous communities of Extremadura, on the Portuguese border, and Galicia in the north are tied in second place, with a price of around 105 euros per day.
At the opposite end of the scale, the Balearic Islands and their turquoise waters have topped the list for the second consecutive year as the most expensive place in Spain, with tourists expected to fork out a whopping 253 euros per night at the height of the summer season.
Prices for holiday rentals in the rest of Spain
The cost of vacation lets varies widely across the country. Here’s the average price per night in the remaining regions:
- Region of Murcia: 110 euros.
- Asturias: 114 euros.
- Castilla y León: 115 euros.
- La Rioja: 119 euros.
- Aragón: 120 euros.
- Cantabria: 120 euros.
- Navarra: 121 euros.
- Castilla-La Mancha: 131 euros.
- Valencian Community: 134 euros.
- Andalucia: 141 euros.
- Catalonia: 161 euros.
- Basque Country: 178 euros.
- Madrid: 180 euros.
