DJ caught with drugs on private jet in Ibiza faces nine years in prison
The 37-year-old man arrived on the island from Las Vegas carrying the drugs in his luggage
An American DJ who was caught by the Guardia Civil with up to 10 different types of drugs on his private jet when it landed in Ibiza faces nine years in prison.
The trial, which will be held next week, will take place in three sessions on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at 9.30am in the Provincial Court.
The request of the public prosecutor is that the DJ face up to nine years in jail for the laws he allegedly broke.
The events took place on July 16, 2021, when the accused, accompanied by 30 people, landed at Ibiza airport aboard a private jet from Las Vegas.
The 37-year-old DJ had been engaged in the distribution of narcotic substances among third parties consumers of the indicated substances.
At around 3.30am, the accused and all his companions went through the scanner in the private flights area of the airport with their luggage, where the presence of organic substances and several bottles of possible narcotic substances were detected.
The agents opened the suitcases and confirmed their suspicions that a large quantity of substances, as well as the cash from selling the substances were found.
The list of bags and packages of drugs found by the agents during the luggage search is very extensive, with over 40 entries being made.
The list includes cocaine and ketamine in different degrees of purity, tablets of various colours and shapes of MDMA, as well as cannabis sativa, a type of hashish resin (in rock form, in various pipes, various joints and in buds).
In addition to these drugs, speed, hallucinogenic mushrooms, poppers and LSD were all found.
All the drugs seized from the DJ would have fetched more than 26,500 euros on the market.
In addition to the drugs, the accused was also found to be holding cash in various currencies: euros, dollars, pounds sterling, baht and dinars.
The accused was arrested and two days later the investigating court of Ibiza ordered the DJ to be provisionally imprisoned without bail, and he remained in jail until August 10, when the same court ordered his provisional release on bail.
In addition to the nine-year prison sentence, the prosecution is requesting that the accused pay a fine of just over 53,000 euros.
