Parts of Murcia will drop to zero degrees this week
An ‘arctic air mass’ is set to bring a sharp drop in temperature across the northern part of the Region of Murcia this week

Temperatures across Spain are set to decline rapidly from midweek, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet). The northern half of the country will feel the most intense cold, but the Region of Murcia will also experience a marked drop in both daytime and night-time temperatures.
Although daytime conditions began the week on a mild note, with several towns still exceeding 20ºC, colder nights have already signalled the arrival of winter weather.
In higher altitude areas like including Caravaca de la Cruz and Yecla, up in the north of the Region, temperatures will fall to around zero degrees at night between Thursday November 20 and Friday 21.
Caravaca, which will see minimum temperatures of around 4-6ºC at the start of the week, is expected to drop to 1ºC on both Thursday and Friday. Yecla will get as low as 2ºC on Thursday and 0ºC on Friday.
Maximum temperatures in these areas will also fall significantly, slipping from around 17ºC earlier in the week to 13ºC on Thursday and just 9ºC on Friday!
Jumilla, also in the north, is forecast to record the lowest value at around -1ºC early on Friday morning, while Cehegín and Moratalla will register between zero and 1.
In Murcia’s neighbouring province of Almería, there are small towns and rural areas such as Calar Alto which have already seen snowfall this week – the first of the season.
Elsewhere in the Region of Murcia, the decline will be gradual but noticeable from Wednesday November 19 onwards. In Murcia city, Monday’s minimum and maximum of 12ºC and 21ºC, respectively, will have fallen to 7ºC and 14ºC on Friday.
Lorca will only reach highs of up to 13ºC by the end of the week and lows of 4ºC, while in Cartagena temperatures will be milder but still lower, with minimums dropping from 14ºC to 9ºC and maximums from 20ºC to 15ºC.
Time to pull the winter hats and coats out!
