ARCHIVED - Regional president announces over 400,000 more Covid vaccines will reach Valencia region this week
The delivery includes mostly Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines, but some Moderna and Janssen vaccines as well
The regional president of the Comunidad Valenciana (Alicante, Castellón and Valencia provinces), Ximo Puig, has announced that the region will receive a further 401,400 Covid-19 vaccines in the coming week, which is the highest weekly delivery since the vaccination campaign started four months ago.
Specifically, the delivery will be made up of 187,200 doses of the Pfizer vaccine, 168,000 AstraZeneca doses, 32,800 Moderna doses and 13,400 Jannsen vaccines, which require only one dose.
This large delivery will speed up the vaccination campaign in the region of Valencia, where over 1.5 million doses have been administered in the past 18 weeks: 577,998 in the province of Alicante, 185,716 in the province of Castellón and 810,360 in the province of Valencia.
Furthermore, 411,342 residents in the region of Valencia have already received both Covid jabs and are now fully vaccinated. This figure includes those who were given a single dose of the Janssen vaccine.
In the over 80’s age group, 100% of residents have received at least one dose and 90% are fully vaccinated; in the 70-79 age group, 71.9% have been given one dose and only 5.8% have received both doses.
In addition, nearly 100% (99.8%) of residents in care homes have received one dose of a vaccine and 93% have already had both jabs.
Sr Puig has also stated that the recent data shows that the region is on track to reaching the summer in the “best circumstances possible”. He revealed that the government intends to vaccinate all residents over 60 years of age, with at least one dose, by June.
