The rain which has been lashing the Region of Murcia over the last few days has caused road closures in several municipalities and has led to the schools in several districts being shut for the day.
The yellow alerts from the State Meteorological Agency that warn of heavy rain this Thursday March 6 have been extended from 6am to 3pm in the Mar Menor and central parts of Murcia, while the alert level has been raised to orange in the northwest and southwest.

In addition, they have asked for caution when driving on the RM-503 linking Bullas and Aledo due to landslides caused by heavy rainfall.
Specifically, in the municipality of Cartagena, the City Council has instructed drivers to avoid driving on roads where water tends to accumulate in situations like the current one. These include the Camino del Sifón, which connects Santa and El Bohío with the city, as well as the crossings of rambla waterways.
Driving in heavy rain
When it rains, braking distances are longer and visibility is reduced. That is why the emergency services insist on avoiding sudden manoeuvres at the wheel, reducing speed and checking the condition of tyres.
They have also remind people not to cross a flooded road, watercourse or riverbed with water in transit due to the risk to the occupants of the vehicles, as they could be swept away by the current.
