Norman Reedus brings The Walking Dead to Cartagena for final spin-off season
The beloved Daryl Dixon star films zombie scenes in Cartagena as the city becomes a hotspot for major productions
Cartagena is getting a taste of the zombie apocalypse, courtesy of Norman Reedus, the guy who plays Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead. He’s been spotted hanging out and filming some pretty intense scenes for the fourth and final season of the spin-off right here in the port city.Locals have caught glimpses of him wandering the streets, enjoying the local food, and even grabbing a drink at La Caja on Cuatro Santos Street while the cameras roll in El Portús and the Port of Escombreras.
This season picks up with Daryl and his friend Carol, played by Melissa McBride, as they continue their journey through a post-apocalyptic Spain, trying to make their way back home to the U.S. It’s shaping up to be the last hurrah for the series, with eight episodes in the pipeline. Fans can expect to see a mix of action, drama, and of course, plenty of zombie thrills.
There’s a real buzz around town because they recently put out a call for extras. They were looking for men aged 18 to 50 to play soldiers, to be part of the action, and kids between 5 and 12 years old for other roles. Plus, Spanish stars like Eduardo Noriega and Óscar Jaenada have already lent some serious talent to the show in previous seasons.
Cartagena is no stranger to the spotlight these days. Just a few weeks ago, Murcia’s famous Trapería Street was transformed into Budapest for the big-budget thriller FAST, directed by Taylor Sheridan and starring Brandon Sklenar. It’s clear the region is becoming a go-to spot for big productions.
With over a hundred pros on set and stunning local spots making it to the screen, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is putting Cartagena and Murcia on the map in a big way. Fans are eagerly waiting for the final season, probably dropping next year around September, like before.
